Star finch - social characteristics

The star finch has a very sociable behavior, relates well with birds of the same species and birds of other species. They may well live in a mixed aviary where you can make creation with just a couple or with a group.

Star finch


Star finch
(Neochmia ruficauda)



The star finch is a bird from Australia Northern about 11-12 cm in size.
In nature lives in damp places and abundant vegetation, being now in danger of extinction.
Your registration is due to John Gould in 1837.




Seeds germinated



Step 1
Wash the seeds and to put them into a beaker of water and anti-fungal for 24 hours.






Step 2
Wash again and the seeds and put them in a bottle with small holes in the bottom (in sun).




Step 3
Wetting the seed three times a day.



Step 4
When the seeds start to sprout, wash well and are ready to give the birds (alone or mixed with the pope).
